Why multi-colored and multi-patterned works!

Look at this fabulous quilt by my friend  Becky. You can’t quite see the impact of seeing all of these glorious blocks put together into a King-sized quilt, but you can see the drama of even a small portion. You don’t need to have specific colors to make a quilt look coordinated.  This one works because all the patterns are similar in scale and size, and all the colors are intense.  Isn’t it liberating not to be too matchy-matchy?

Becky used all kinds of aboriginal fabric, and the bevy of patterns and colors creates energy and excitement.  Check out some of the Australian fabrics  available at FabricnNotions.com, the online store of Threads of Time in Danville, Illinois.
